Georgia Drivers Ed and Joshua’s Law

January 28th, 2008 · No Comments

The new Joshua’s Law which was implemented on January 1, 2007, has made driving laws for teen drivers a lot more strict in the state of Georgia. For those teen drivers who want to get their license before the age of seventeen, they must now complete the new state approved Georgia driver education course. The state of Georgia is working on trying to place this course in as many schools as possible. However, the less populated schools will not be able to have the option of taking this class at their school for one reason or another. A number of students are now being home schooled as well, making it difficult for them to attend a school who offers this course. A great solution for those who can’t or don’t want to attend a school for this course can choose to take the state approved driver education course online.

Parents need not to worry because the online courses do meet the guidelines set forth in the new Joshua’s Law. This enables teens to take the classroom portion of this course in the comforts of their own home. In addition, students can work at their own pace, allowing them to fully comprehend the learning objectives of each subject. Once completing the online course, you will then receive a certificate of completion, which you can show your local DDS office. This certificate is proof that you have passed the online course.

Allowing teens to take a state approved driver education course online, enables parents to be fully involved in the entire process of their child learning how to drive. Parents are still required to spend a certain amount of hours in the passenger seat while their child is behind the wheel. For more information log onto the Drivers Ed Online website.
