Neighbour vacation tells

June 12th, 2007 · No Comments

I mentioned to my every so friendly neighbour about the upcoming vacation plans. The problem is that he’s one of those keeping up the Jones type of people but multipled by fifty. So my vacation plans to Banff, which really would rate as a great vacation, did not really impress him.

No a vaction out west would not be good enough apparently. He says that would be ok but he starts telling me about the perfect vacation that he took in the winter. He went all out and vacationed in Thailand. Not just any old place in Thailand. No he went to the new hot spot in Thailand called Koh Samui. I just nodding my head and pretended to be impressed with all the stories about the great beaches, perfect food, friendly people etc. Luckly one of the kids feel down and scrapped her knee and I was actually saved by the sounds of a screaming six year old.

Well unfortunately I slightly suffer from the same keeping up the Jone’s problem so I had to find out more about his vacation hotspot. I found the Ko Samui Guide information site which had all the details about this new tourist destination in Thailand.

Ok the place looks fantastic with all the beaches and the great weather conditions. I can see why my neighbour was raving about his vacation but obviously it was just the way that he raised the topic that ticked me off.

Whats funny is that besides the crazy cost of the flights a vacation in Thailand would not be to expensive. According to the info on the Ko Samui Guide the hotels would not be very expensive.

One of the coolest things is the name of the beaches. Visiting a place named Big Buddha Beach would make the trip almost worthwhile. Unfortunately once I started the cost of the kids tickets to the overall package things started to get a little bit to expensive. I’m not traveling with one of those Condrad Black Hollinger expense account loaded in my back pocket. The household is flying closer to reality in the financial sense and that might just mean Banff.
