Getting ready for the old conference call interview which should be happening this week. I got some background info from my referral source. He got it from his source at the company in question. So its some deep, deep background info which hopefully will help me out.
So besides the usual web based online stuff it lloks like I might actually have to meet with some clients and help make some sales pitches. Being involved with larger companies for the past few years I’ve kind of lost touch with the client world. I really need to find some tips to conduct successful sales meetings so I don’t sound like some out of touch web geek. Sure I’m meet with some clients over the years but thats usually discuss their ongoing priojects its not part of a pitch process.
Its a totally different feel when you have to pitch an idea to get a client. You have to be really, really understanding to their ideas even when you know that they are out to lunch. So thats part of my problem for my upcoming conference call interview this upcoming week.
I cracked up some business magazines to try and get up to speed with some more common terms. Found an internesting business article about how you can publicize your sales meetings that gave me a few pointers.
I should note that this whole interview process has cost me quite a few dollars. I can’t walk into any mamagzine store without picking up some other designer magazines. Sure I picked up the business magazines but I didn’t really need to grap the latest issue of Dwell for some ideas. Actually thats what i told my wife but thats a different problems. Maybe she’ll get some ideas about building the perfect enviro pre-fab house out in Washington State. I guess I can add that possibility to the plus side of the potential move. Forget the business side I want a super cool, prefab, designer magazine home out of the whole deal.
